Boronia Radio Controlled Car Club

The 2009 VORTEC Interclub Challenge has been run and won.

Well after a fine and sunny morning the decision to start after lunch and finish under lights was looking worse and worse as heavy clouds started to close in on the BRCCC track. Sure enough, just 3 races after the 12:30 start the first downpour came. After some quick work on the roller we managed to get back to racing after about a 90 minute delay. The rain managed to hold off until almost 6pm and stopped racing just one heat short of completing 3 rounds of racing for each class. As such, the first two rounds counted for points.

Apart from the rain, it was a good day with some very close racing all round. Thanks to all those who helped on the day, all those racers who attended and congratulations to TFTR who came out on top by the narrowest of margins (1 point). Well done!

Final results for the event were:

• 1st - Templestowe (TFTR) 316
• 2nd - Boronia (BRCCC) 315
• 3rd - Keilor (KROMA) 243
• 4th - Bendigo (BORCCC) 224

Details for the event are as follows:

• Saturday 19th September 2009
• Clubrooms open 9am, Official Practice 12pm, Racing 1pm - 8pm
• 5 heats, points based
• 3 drivers for each class (total 15 drivers per club) chosen by each attending club
• Modified, Super Stock, Stock, 540 Pro, Mini
• VORTEC Rules apply (see VORTEC Website for details)

Please note, each club nominates their top 3 drivers in each class for the event. There is no entry form and no entry fee. Each club will present their list of drivers to BRCCC registration officials on the day of the event.

Personal transponders are supported (numbers will be entered on the day).

As Season 1 draws to a close here are the important dates for the next few weeks of racing. Due to an error in the first batch of the Pit Stop newsletter here are the CORRECT dates!

June 24^th - Season 1 Round 22 (last round)

July 1^st - Season 1 Presentation and Fun Night

July 8^th - Season 2 Round 1

Also, a reminder that memberships fall due on July 1^st 2009, so get those memberships in for next year!
