As a member of BRCCC you get to race at one of the best clubs in Victoria and enjoy the thrill of RC racing. But there's plenty of activity happening at the club which you can get involved in which doesn't necessarily involve racing your car around the track each week.
The Committee acts on behalf of the club members to develop the club and provide future direction but the club members and their assistance is what really gets things done. Here's how you can get involved:
RACE NIGHT
Race nights are a busy time for the committee so anything the club members can do to assist each week is greatly appreciated. Before racing can commence each week there are a number of jobs that need to be completed. Usually people start to arrive at the track around 5pm and this is when we need your help.
Aside from switching on the lights we need to setup the track, install speakers, run extension leads and powerboards, setup tables and spectator seating, setup barriers, put the bins in place and crank up the air conpressor. Any club members can help out with these tasks. If you see someone doing one of these jobs why not help them out? Meanwhile, the committee is busy taking registrations and finalising the classes for racing.
WORKING BEES
Working Bees are held at the club on a regular basis throughout the year. All club members are invited and encouraged to assist in at least one working bee each year. Announcements regarding working bees and the jobs that need to be completed are made at drivers briefings and on the website.
SPECIAL EVENTS
There are numerous special events held throughout the year, whether it be an Interclub challenege or a demonstration at a local school. If you'd like to participate in one of these events or help organise or run the event then please let the committee know. Regular updates to the website and announcements at the drivers briefings will let you know when these events are occuring and what needs to be done.
COMMITTEE ACTION ITEMS
Once the Committee agrees on something which needs to be done around the club it's placed on an Action List. This list is displayed on the club room notice board. Have a look and see if there is anything on the list that you may be able to assist with.
WEBSITE AND PUBLICATIONS
The Pit Bull and Pit Stop newsletters as well as the BRCCC website are all put together by volunteer club members. Finding the time as well as the content for these publications can be a rather laborious task. Club members are encouraged to contribute an article or some photos to one of our publications to help out our editors. If you would like to become a regular contributor to any of these publications please step forward and let the Committee know as they would greatly appreciate the assistance.
JOIN THE COMMITTEE
Finally, if you really want to get serious about helping out you can always join the Committee. Positions on the Committee are open to all club members and are elected each year. For more information on the Committee and committee positions please see the Committee Section.
